Biography

In April of 2009, I found out that I have a BRCA1 mutation, known more notoriously as one of the "breast cancer genes". I started this blog to bitch about my crappy genes.

I am a 40-year old mother of three and a committed professional. Since the "news" I have tried to continue being a human being, albeit a mutant one, but I'm discovering that it isn't easy.

Characters That You May Encounter In This Blog:

Boy Toy - my husband

The Docs (so far):

Dr. Statistics: Medical oncologist. Likes to talk in numbers.

Dr. I-Don't-Want-To-Scare-You-But: Gynecologist/Oncologist/Surgeon. Name says it all. Likes to share anecdotes that you don't want to hear and didn't ask for.

Dr. Lucky Flip-Flops: Gynecologist. Laid back, easy to relate to if you're irreverent enough and don't put much stock in a white coat.

Disclaimer: Although this blog contains quite a bit of medical information, I am not a doctor and all of this is really just my bullshitting about me and my psychedelic BRCA road trip.
